We are newlyweds in need of a lifestyle health makeover. We have 3 children, Dominick 11, Noah 9, and Alex 4. We both work full time and attend college as well. Needless to say we are very busy and until now, have not been able to 'find time' to fit in exercise and healthy eating.

February 18

Oh My gosh!!

Ok, so I've had a pretty disasterous week.  My willpower sucks a big one!! I am back up to 367lbs as of this morning!!!!!Crying   I'm retaining water like crazy-too much salt or just that time??? Who knows... I have not been on track with anything this week.  I am not going to let this get me down any longer!! So I will leave it at that.  This week I have a renewed energy and I feel like I'm back on the right track.  Anyone else having the same issues???

down in the dumps

So, I'm a bit down in the dumps this week.  I gained 4 lbs Sad.  My family says it's because I'm lifting weights 3 times a week, but 4 lbs?? I really am working out hard so maybe?  I'm not giving up, but I haven't changed my weight on my space cuz I almost don't want to believe it.  Ken dropped another pound or so.  He definitely doesn't have food issues like I do.  Well, gotta run and get the boys some dinner before we head to the gym.  Looking forward to a better week...Red heart

Working out

Well, our car Auto has been in the shop since last Tuesday Sad and hopefully it's going to be ready (fixed) today Open-mouthed.  We only went to the gym once last week, but I still feel pretty good.  I been making a conscious effort to use everyday activities as exercise.  During the week at work, I did mini crunches at my desk and calf flexes.  This weekend while I cleaned the house I did toe touches while I picked stuff off the floor and moved the furniture myself while vacuuming (usually I have my boys help).  Ken finally put together the Bowflex he bought from a friend, so I will be trying that out today.  We are doing well sticking to our eating habits. We did get pizza Pizza from Papa Murphys this weekend though.  I got the thin crust just cheese and I put a bunch of green peppers on it. I only at 4 pieces, normally I would have eaten 8, or more.  We still have a long way to go, but I can finally see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Sun

Staying Motivated

Nothing keeps me motivated on my journey than actually seeing the numbers on the scale come down.  Finally I broke the 360 mark. I'm down to 357.  We have a cafeteria at my work and the smell from the food just waifts directly to my desk.  It's very hard to stay focused and motivated when you smell food all day long.  I usually don't even go in there during the day.  Kinda like out of sight, out of mind.  I told my friend at work that I need to get some of that stuff coroner's put under their nose so they don't smell  icky stuff.  I have really been pushing myself at the gym this last week also.  Right now I do between 10-30 minutes on the treadmill. I get my heart rate up first, then go walk at 2.5mph at a 5.0 incline.  Then we do 30-60 minutes on the weight training circuit.  We do 2 sets of 15 reps.  I am definitely stronger in my legs than my upper body.  I can leg press 170lbs, but I can only shoulder press 10 lbs. What a weakling, but not for long.  We have an exercise bike and a nice ball thingy at home but we have yet to use it.  We get to the gym 3 times a week, but I know we need to do more.  I KNOW THAT WE CAN DO THIS!!  I found out today that another girl at my work is doing this with her husband also!  It's nice to actually know someone else that's doing this as well.

working out

Ok, so it's been a few weeks ang we have been going to the gym 3-5 times per week.  I feel good about it, and I actually enjoy going. I even look forward to it.  A lady that I work with made a comment about how much energy and pep I have, especially since how much I've been working out.  So it made me think, am I not working out hard enough.  I mean I'm sweating and everything but I 'pump iron' until I feel a burn and then move on to the next machine.  Last night I kicked it up a notch.  I increase the weights that I have been lifting and did at least 15 reps and 2 sets.  When I left the gym my legs were wobbly.  Today I am sore!!!! My legs and arms especially.  Now I think I may have overdone it so we have cancelled our trip to the gym and decided to stay home and work on core training.  We bought a really nice ball and we're eager to try it out.  Wish us luck.

another week

Ok, so it's been another week now, and I need more inspiration.  Not only have we decided to make these lifestyle changes, we have both started school.  We have stayed to our planned workout schedule.  This week was much harder to control my eating.  I have felt hungry all week.  Lask week was so much easier.  The hardest is to make and eat fast and easy (kid friendly) healthy food.  If anyone reading this has some meal ideas, please leave a message!!

The Beginning Part 2 Million Pound Matchup- Biggest Loser

So we forgot to add that we are entering the Biggest Loser Million Pound Match-up.... how could we forget.  Our combined weight loss goal is 206 lbs.  Ken wants to lose 43lbs. and Amy wants to lose 163lbs or more.  We want to win the contest to win a trip to the Biggest Loser Couples Season Finale and a personal trainer for a year.  We have started off strong with our healthy lifestyle changes and if we win, that would mean more encouragement for us to stay on track.  Our goal is to not only lose weight, but to make lifelong changes.  We don't want to be sick and tired anymore.  We don't want to be sideline parents.  We are newlyweds with a new family and we want to be around for each other and our children for many, many more healthy years. The Beginning

Ok Everyone!!  Here it is. We have begun out weightloss journey. Amy is starting out at 370 lbs as of 01/04/2008. As of 01/07/2008 I have already lost 7 lbs.  Ken started at 220lbs on 01/07/2008 and has lost 7 lbs so far as well.  We joined Bally's and have committed to working out 5 times a week.  So far so good, we're taking it easy this week because we are couch potatoes.  This weekend we kick it up a notch.  We met with a personal trainer last night.  She worked us hard and gave us a great starting point for our workouts.  She also gave us tips for exercise at home. Changing our eating habits has been the toughest.  I have been eating great since January 1st.  The first few days was really, really hard.  I had to tell our kids to not let me have any junk food and to tell on me if I had it.  Luckily I was off of work for a few days so I was able to sulk at home!! Sad  Right now we are pulling our inspiration from the Biggest Loser and each other.  Let us know if you have any tips for us.
